Stars.. On Trees & In Sky.

Canon 550D + Canon 18-55 IS II (kit lens) at 18mm
EXIF: 15s || f/4.5 || ISO 1600

One of most memorable family trips at Big Red Tent Karnala and wonderful host Zaidwho took us for night treck to see this spectacle. Literally thousands of fireflies on the trees and cloud cover opened up just for few minutes to show some stars.

We trecked about 1.5 km uphill with kids to get here from the camp ground and every bit of it was worth it. After a few shots, the stars gave way to the rain and we were wet by the time we reach back to our cosy tents. A night to remember.

For Photographer friends, the firefly season lasts till Sep. end.. if you need details of the place, here is the link.

Dew Drops on Flower

Macro Magic

Yes, sometimes (though rarely) I do find flowers interesting on my photo shoot!
No.. i did not "place" these drops, it was dew.

The Kill

The KILL, The Eye Contact, The Sting cutting through moth's throat.

The robber fly reminds me of big cats with its built and power!

Robber Fly Eyes.. Let's count them (in full screen please)

I love macro because its hard! And when (sometimes!!) you get it right you create a shot, uniquely your own.

On of my personally satisfying shots.. search for robberfly (check), find clean b/g (check), find good composition (check), get the right areas in focus to maximize the available DOF (check)...

Robber Fly 1

Introducing the Robber Fly, with its kill (and a small fly acting as a scavenger).

This fly was eluding me for 3 years and today morning got bunch of photos with and without the kill.

Hairy Butterfly

If anyone wants to work on their "patience", i would strongly recommend to give it a try to get so close to the butterflies without making them take off

Saw this weird insect with the antennae almost twice the size of its body. Kept the rest of the body out of focus to make an interesting and unusual photo.. hope some will like it!
