The texture of the dead leaf and the holes in it looked very interesting to me... do you think as as well?

Death ~ by nature!

One In & One Out
Two Turtles crossing over .. once coming out of the and another "planning" to enter it.
The king of focus contrast and highlight /shadow on both of them seemed quite interesting!

Metallic Drop HDR Way
Thought of doing some different processing with the milk-drop-in-coffee.
You can see the green ting which is due the the green b/g from which the light was bounced.
I opened this one in photomatrix and did some tone mapping which gave me a surprisingly "metallic" look.. any comments?

Pin-Ball (with water and coffee)
This was a joint indoor shoot with Anshum
I arranged for the setup in my house and he brought the lights (and lots of enthusiasm!) 90 mins of shooting but great fun!!
Cool (Hot) Flames!
As simple as it gets... (but not a snapshot!). i like the flames merging and smooth / Cool effect they give! (bit of orange ting due ti impurity is also giving some personality to the flames.

Attitude
Slightly old shot but one of my most favorite ones.. taken on small point and shoot and with minimal post processing (sometimes some shots just happen!)

Only the Worthy may have color
Selective color (actually focal b/w in picasa!) trying something different

3 Grapes jumped OUT of water
This time decided to drop three grapes at once.. fortunately the camera caught the grapes while they were trying to escape out of water after the initial splash.. interesting, right?
Summar Splash
was shooting for latest DPC challenge.
Kept a shallow plate in the sun on a small table.. shot with tripod and from the shade. My son was gracious enough to happily participate and drop the grapes in water!
Interesting to see the splash, its reflection and also the shadow of the splash!! (some may think of it as distraction though!)
PP.. very simple edits in Picasa.. some really simple stuff.
Would love to hear the comments!
Negative Space.. Positive Energy
This is a simple wine/juice glass shot from top on a clean platform. color changed!
Its interesting how a frame build from simplest of the setups / shots!! you just need to dare-to-see (not that this is GREAT shot.. but this is certainly not bad :P!!)
BTW.. there is no water int he glass the effect is due to the dark lower part of the glass.

Healthy Smile
And my wife (meghana) says.. "atleast leave the vegetables alone!! :D).
The shadows are intentional.. i could have removed it with reflectors but the shadows are giving the "eye" effect hence kept them.

Sit back & Relax
Just another garden bench... from a different perspective though. I liked the lines and curves in the picture, hence sharing!

4 of the 7 dwarfs!!
That's one more from the same annual function!
Staggered focus to the cute fellow is something i am quite happy achieving! It was difficult with the changing lighting on the stage though!
Using up the full 300mm

Little Bird
This one is from my son's annual get-together. This little fellow is my son's friend.. isn't he cute... any boy the way they performed on the stage at the age of 2 & 3 years is worth admiration

Red Wine Ripples
Same setup as the earlier two shots.. but bit more processing to clean up the imperfections on the glass (which i should have cleaned with a cloth.. i could have saved some time in GIMP)
This one is my personal fav out of the three uploaded!
Diluted Coffee-in-water looks like red wine :D isn't it?
Blip.. Blop
Time for some late night fun with water drops... very very simple setup.
1. Clean bowl
2. White b/g
3. Water
4. Coffee + water
5. Dropper
6. On-Camera flash.. light bumped-off of few make-shift reflectors.
manually operating the dropper with left hand and pressing the remote shutter with the right one... not too many trials..
I chose this one as this catches the clean water and first few dark-color drops into the water.
Comments / Suggestions?
Red Drops
Time for some late night fun with water drops... very very simple setup.
1. Clear Glass
2. this time my black b/g (doesn't it look much better than white one?)
3. Water
4. Coffee + water
5. Dropper
6. On-Camera flash.. light bumped-off of few make-shift reflectors.
Now this one is when the coffee got completely mixed with water and i kept experimenting.. so got some lovely colors on water and the drops... hope you guys like it.
Long "S"
found this interesting... actually its just a piece of metal rod bent and hanging on the fence... you can find interesting stuff.. if you you try hard!

Twisted in Nature
Some strange looking beans on the tree.. i would have loved if the sky had some clouds to add to the composition! (doesn't it look like snakes?)
One for the Road
Yea.. that's by beloved car!! (cleaned up the number for privacy sake!)
Location: New road being constructed in Hinjewadi Phase 3 (Pune, India)
Processing: This is HDR from single RAW

Climbing the Bricks Factory
Shot for Shadows challenge on DPC
www.dpchallenge.com/challenge_submit.php?CHALLENGE_ID=1179
Hopefully will put-up the full view of the bricks formation in a couple of days.
This is a tight crop of the bricks factory वीट à¤à¤Ÿ्टी . Shot in MAN village located 5 km from Hinjewadi Hitech City. Still quite a rural touch to this place.
Trying rule-of-thirds again, this time vertical third line!
Raching Out
The branches of the bare tree look as if they are trying to reach out to the moon!! Creepy.. right?
It was interesting to see the moon on the blue sky on a sunny day (actually morning hence the sky is still not very bright but the morning sun-rays falling directly on the tree making the remaining dry leaves and branches stand out on the blue sky)
Basking in the Sun
Trying to get the "Rule of Third" and "Leading Line" concepts right in this photo.
As with the shot.. when i saw her, my 18-55 lens was on and did not have time to switch the lens just in time.. hence had to do super crop and hence the grain.. but i am overall quite pleased with the photo.
For people in india, 10 years back this was nothing special.. its a usual indian sparrow.. sitting on the bush... but these days its a hard effort to spot these (especially in Pune).. i remember my childhood with these fellows... hope my children will enjoy the same as well.

Black Beauty
not sure what's the name of this bird.. but its beautiful.. and fortunately the eye has come out very crisp!
Sunrise on the glass
picked up this spot today to do something different with the sunrise. Also this road was laid out recently so there was not much traffic early in the morning!
Small processing in photomatrix
Broken Wheel
Finally.. after deciding to get up early on the weekend for past 4 weekends i actually managed to do so. Drove about 10 km across the Hinjewadi Hitech City and as soon as i crossed it.. i could see the age-old villages.
This "broken wheel" was not repaired for a long time and i really doubt if it will ever be repaired.. its simply not needed as the farm in which it was used is now sold to the "real estate giants" who are building "tomorrow's India". It will sit here till the hut on which its resting gets converted into a sky-scrapper .. very soon!

Spiky.. by Nature
Its nature's spikyness...(also these leaves are spiky by its own nature!!).... I am playing with words here!!
Tuesday, March 2, 2010
All that starts here.. Ends here
Bit philosophical... i always am (especially when i am traveling)...
Dropped these two leaves.. one green one dead into the fountain pool. i liked the way floated around each other for a while. I wish i had got leaves of the same tree.. may be next time!
Waiting.. on the same old bench
This time.. in my building park.. just picked up the flower on the ground and placed it on the wooden bench nearby. god down to the level of the bench and clicked.. which made the DOF really shallow and at the center of the flower!
Little crop, shadow, sharpen in Picasa 3.
BTW.. shot for DPChallenge "parallel lines" challenge.
