Drying in Heaven
Shot in Bhigwan few weeks back.. the color on the water and its smoothness really made the shot for me in my other Cormorant shots!

Oriental Magpie Robin (different viewpoint)
This is Oriental Magpie Robin in Jim Corbett (last year).. While i had uploaded the front view photos, this was in archives.. so thought of picking it up for processing.
Expecting mixed views, as this goes against normal conventions of Bird Photographs!!
what makes the photo for me is the symmetry with the twig below the bird!
Normal view :)

Carefree
small holi water balloons inflated with air and thrown against the sky.. simple!
Clouds in the sky is the big plus.. without that the picture was nothing!

Handle at the Far End
Just having some fun with an old shot (taken on first day i got the DSLR delivered in Sep-09)... applying a texture and playing with levels (individually with Red , Blue, Green)
Due to shallow DOF, there is pure texture on left and the details emerge on the right.. that seems a bit interesting to me...
what do you think? (its pretty unusual shot for my photostream.. but what the heck, you gotta do something different!)
Bells!
Last weekend, i walked into a small crafts exhibition in Tilak Smarak with Amit Dhongade's 50mm/1.8. Manual Focus
f/1.8 : ISO 200 : 1/60s
Here is the result!

Floating
One more in my ongoing effort of minimalism (or Negative Space or single subject.. which ever way you look at it).
This was a shell floating in bhigwan river water.

Minimalism-4 (Standing in Water)
While discussing with Suhas, interesting topic came up on whether my so called minimal photos are actually minimal or just single subject... It certainly has negative space, but is it minimal?
What do you guys think?

Minimalism - 3 (Water Drop)
Taken 7-8 months back on a rainy afternoon! This is rain drop dripping down from a leaf / stem! Simple! The star-bokeh is from another drop in the background! Raynox & Home Made diffuser were doing serious a over-time back then!
Oh.. yaa.. the theme is minimal.. which means i need to write less too :D

Happiness is a choice.. YOU can make!
suddenly philosophical today :D
About the shot.. its interesting to be challenged.. me and my wife meghana saw these beautiful butterflies floating around and i was telling her all the good reasons why i am not trying butterfly in flight!! (they float too fast, sigma lens limitations, i will not get clarity, the lens does not focus so fast etc etc...).
Then Meghana told me.. atleast give it a shot... and once challenged.. i got atleast 3 shots with decent clarity, bokeh and composition...
this one is the best among them! Do you see the pollen on the antenna?
Comments / suggestions / bricks / roses welcome!

Reprocessed! Sun rises into my eyes (Blue throat Robin - Female)
Reprocessed! Sun rises into my eyes (Blue throat Robin - Female), originally uploaded by Yogendra174.
Why reprocess after getting 25 comments and 15 favs... because two people told me in private what i had done wrong with this photo!
Vaibhav [http://www.flickr.com/photos/vaibhavgarge/] pointed in the earlier photo:
1. The whites are slightly overexposed
2. I feel a rectangular 3:2 crop would have looked more pleasing
Pankaj [http://www.flickr.com/people/pankajz/] was more direct on flickr mail:
Oversharpen kelay. masking edges disat ahet.
Look near the beak in the two photos and you will realize!
So decided to re-process..
Only one question.. does this look better than the earlier one.. and why?
Thank you
older version (over-sharpened and with imperfect masking)

Sun rises into my eyes (Blue throat Robin - Female)
This was one of the most cooperative bird i got to photograph (OR it got totally used to me sleeping endlessly in stinking cow-dung :).. and it paid off.
This one did beat my lense's minimum-focusing-distance (MFD).. and this shot was taken just when it went just far enough to get the focus!!
you gotta click L to see the details on the wings..
I have done insect portraits, bug first time got a chance to do a bird portrait.. that too a quite rare migratory bird :)
