Blue Beetle
Via Flickr:
Anyone knows its name? it looked like glass with shiny surface and drops of water...
recommend see in large to see the texture on the eye and the water drops on the back.
given sufficient practice and patience (lots of it).. Raynox WORKS... period!

Random Tips
- A closed eyes tip I picked up years ago that I’ve used with a group of 170 is to have everyone shut their eyes. Then count down from three and have everyone open at the one count. Everyone should be open without the need to blink a second later when you make the exposure.

Colorful "Bee"ing
Via Flickr:
Wish the texture on the eyes was captured.. but instead we have the texture on the wings.. got to give some to get some (especially with single shot!)

City.. that keeps running... in spite of everything
Via Flickr:
even with the regular blasts and utter bullshit from politicians.. kudos to the city.. Mumbai!! and its people!
EXIF: Canon 1000D + Canon 18-55 IS
18mm || f/10 || 8 Sec || ISO 200
Story behind the shot
Very interesting story to capture this.
After struggle to get the "right spot" and roaming for 40 mins.. and seeing the closed parK where the view is supposed to be the best.. i gave up.. untill the rikshwa-wall said.. sir i will take you to a place where no-other-person goes to see the bridge.
He took really narrow (and scary) lanes and took me to a really shabby and scary 4 story building (which he told was constructed as a replacement house for slums!).. i went on the 4 the floor.. got the view but had only my 6 inch wire-pod.. problem ....
So i requested one of the elderly lady to lend me a plank of wood she was sitting on.. and she did... i rested it on the broken parapet.. somehow stabilized the camera on it and kept the strap around my neck. Then in the most awkward (and amusing for the people around)... got this 8 second shot... bulls-eye...
Cannot thank more than ever to my rickshwa-walla :)
This was two weeks back.. and after the blasts 2 days back.. i am compelled to pull the shot and post it :(..
Kudos to the people!

Drop.
Via Flickr:
Thought of trying something different for the background.. i love patterned background drop shots.. and here is my first attempt to do it with reflection of some strange things (like a wall + green box lid + blue-red lego tiles)... you can see the setup and the exit info in the comments..
this is a single strobe shot..why use two when one is enough??
guess few ppl will be curious about the setup.. here it goes...

Sometimes.. things don't fall straight
Via Flickr:
they change their path in water!!
the lemon hit the sides of the glass jar just before it fell in water.. creating first the drag then the down sinking.. somehow.. i liked this effect.
As Anshum pointed out earlier, i should have changed the b/g during the shoot.. but next time :)

Thirty kya??
Via Flickr:
so finally i start using the strobes.. the way i wanted to use...
two YN467 strobes fired with YN603 on the background (which is a blue kitchen towel). Lemon half dropped in jar of water. The yellow you see at the bottom (actually at the top as the shot is 180 degree rotated :D) is the yellow towel at the bottom of the.
By mistake shot in JPEG.. but fortunately no major damage because of that :)
Reason we see background not of same color (thought the towel was).. is that the strobe was fired where you see the light / whites :) quite intentional to create gradient b/g!
Comments / questions / kicks PLEASE!!

Mother's Comfort VS Curiocity
Via Flickr:
I felt the baby was protected and comfortable in his mother's arms still his curiosity in his eyes was gazing at the world.
