Story This was most unbelievable insect i have captured with my camera yet... i was shooting macro with my Raynox and newly created pop-up flash modifier.. i saw a brown spec on green leaves and considered it as some tiny dry leaf or piece of wood fleck... but then it bounced from one leaf to another and i realized its indeed an insect.. but had no clue where is its eye.. till i captured it and zoomed all the way into the photo!! Thanks to Raynox this is almost zero crop .. its as big as it was captured. Also its a stacking of 2 photos

Size: 1 mm wide : 5 mm long : 2mm tall (Tall.. 2mm? hahaha!!)

Technique: Equipment: Canon 1000 D + Sigma APO DG Macro 70-300 + Raynox DCR 250 + home-made Pop-up-flash diffuser (Hand-held, manual focus)

Settings: 1/200s + f/13.5 + ISO 100

Light: Pop up flash and my latest modifier.. i will post the pictures soon.. essentially i have wrapped a 2 liter soda bottle... but its working GREAT.

post processing / stacking
1. Picasa: 2 shots (one for eye focus another for tail focus) stacked convert from RAW to jpeg
2. CombineZP: Thorough Align and Do Stack
3. Gimp: minor crop / Curves / sharpness
4. FastStone: Resize

Look at the texture on the eye and the tail.. something that clearly INVISIBLE to the human eye!

Now this is stretching things too far.. This photo was taken with a simple point-and-shot.. you know when... 5th March 2006 (more than 4 years back) and was probably my first "photography" type shot EVER..

It was pure dark and the only light was of the candle you see in the picture, that's why you see the candle holder as a silhouette

bringing back old memories.. Applied Texture by ohsleepless1!

Story
this is a normal escalator.. only VERY tall (must be about 2-3 story high.. this was under "Exchange Place subway station" in New York (actually New Jersey side!).

The vanishing act: I kept the shutter open for .7 sec to get a smooth trail and make the actual "moving stairs" completely vahish.. it was very late at night, so there were very few people on the escalator (which i had to wait and avoid).


I had to stabilize the camera on one knee (as there was no way i could use a tripod here!)


Exposure
f/3.5 (@18mm):0.7sec: ISO 100 (to allow me to keep the shutter open for more time & get the motion blur & avoid noise)

something new
This is something "different and new" as compared to my macros and nature shots off-late... you know i can't get trapped into one style!! Also i love vanishing point shots.. i will come up with a different kind of vanishing point tomorrow!

"Tall" but Small

See how small the so called TALL bindings look on the canvas of the sky... ( have only captured top 6-7 flowers of a 15 story building).

Some incredible colors in the sky.. breathtaking ... i am so happy my camera is capable of recording what i was "seeing" today evening.. what a gift i have given myself when i purchased the DSLR!

Location: Central Park New York.

I did the processing on 29th June (on the same day Anshum uploaded his) but on the same day i got my Raynox and was so fascinated by Macros that this one got left behind...

hope people are ok to see some non-macro nature from me!

Process:
1. Open in GIMP
2. Make a Copy
3. Gussian Blur (i guess 30-40).
4. Masking with central gradiant
5. Selective masking to reveal / hide the sharp focus

Its not the technique.. its what you want to show in focus (the vision) is critical here. Turned out to be pretty simple as compared to what i thought it would be

Anyone knows the name?

This little insect with ~ 100 feet was crawling on the leaves.. i picked it up with a small stick and placed it on my car (Maruti Swift.. red) bonet... and then click-click-click!!

When i started shooting.. it turned away from me.. but fortunately i could adjust myself to get the eyes in focus!!

Here are the technical stuff:
Equipment: Canon 1000 D + Sigma APO DG Macro 70-300 + Raynox DCR 250 + home-made Pop-up-flash diffuser (Hand-held, manual focus) + PATIENCE

Exposure Triangle: 1/200s + f/13 + ISO 100 (Flash fired)

Post Processing: Almost nothing... just a bit of contrast adjt... the color is original...
