It was heavenly few minutes just when sun starting showing up on the horizon and the first rays met the misty lake full of ducks!

Truly magical moment!

Had a BLAST alone on Pashan Lake on Sunday morning.. no MACROs this time but lot of pics of sunrise and butterflies.. few birds too! Will post them over the week!

It was sheer pleasure to see the robber fly catch the moth in mid air and then take it to a nearby leaf. As the moth was bit heavy the robber fly could not take it too far away from me and i followed it for few meters couple of times (in dense grass!!) and got this!

Couple of interesting close-ups in comments as usual :)

Taken last Saturday early morning.. in my backyard again!
1. Our friend immediately starts digging into the moth.. you can also see the coiled proboscis of the moth and some kind of "eye contact" between killer and the kill!

2. That's an impressive tail

Guess this is as sharp as it gets... Very satisfying shot as i had to follow the butterfly for 15-20 mins to get it settled and go REALLY close for this kind of shot!

Got few dew drops on the legs as well in the shallow DOF as a bonus :D

This is first time i have managed to capture the circled proboscis (that's what its called.. thanks to google: www.naturenorth.com/butterfly/english/01%20body.html)
here is an outtake where i can cover the whole butterfly at least in bokeh
